Oor Wullie No 1 Annual -1939 - Back of Outer Sleeve
Sunday 8 March 1936 was a date which was destined to go down in history.
This was the day that heralded the very first appearance of the comic character who was to go on to earn the title of 'Scotland's Favourite Son'.
'OUR WULLIE' burst on to the pages of 'The Sunday Post' causing mischief and mayhem, resplendent in his trademark dungarees and tackety boots.
A nation was captivated.
With the advent of World War II in 1939 'The Sunday Post' went out to the lads and lassies serving in the Armed Forces at home and abroad and a year later in October 1940, D C Thomson further satisfied their instatiable appetite for the antics of the loveable scamp by publishing the first 'OOR WULLIE' Annual.
Following on from the success of last year's Facsimile of 'The BROONS Book No. 1', D C Thomson in conjunction with Aurum Press are proud to release this superbe Facsimile reproduction of the 'OUR WULLIE Book No. 1'.
"Wha is it, as soon's the day's begun,
Is thinking how he'll hae some fun
And starts whene'er his breakfast's done?
